Other displays like The – Away at Millwall he is dominant and ruthless – and a challenge for the top six or perhaps even the top two could well be possible. Rowett, meanwhile, believes Leeds’ remarkable strength could make the difference in a long and grueling season.

Leeds United beat Millwall at The Den

“The championship is a tough league. Against teams like Leeds who have the ability to sign players they have like (Wilfried) Gnonto, (Crysencio) Summerville, Piroe, Rutter, and then all of a sudden you can use Dan James, you can use (Jaidon) Anthony , (Joe) Gelhardt…” Rowett tells the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“They will obviously hurt teams if there is space on the field, because they are very, very good at that.”

James set up Piroe’s second goal from the bench, while Bournemouth loanee Anthony also looked good on his debut. Leeds are now in tenth place. However, with their squad set and new signings adapting, it will come as no surprise to see Farke’s side go on a strong run in the coming weeks.

“I would say: great”

“I’m proud of my boys today,” smiles Farke; Leeds win here for the first time in 11 years. “I’ve played here at The Den several times. I know it’s an incredibly difficult place to be and you have to be there.

“I would say great, great team goals. When I think about the first goal, you can immediately write it into a book and sell it because it’s so wonderful. I’m very glad about that.

“For me the most important issue is returning to the dressing room from such a difficult period with a clean slate and yes, scoring three goals is great.”

“I’m pretty, pretty proud of the accomplishment.”
