Venus Williams’ wardrobe malfunction at the Oscars

Venus Williams had one slip in the middle of Sunday’s messy 2022 Oscar show.

The tennis star, who wore a bespoke white Elie Saab plunging gown, suffered a wardrobe malfunction while sitting next to her sister Serena Williams in her court. ABC cameras caught the fashion mishap, and fans on Twitter shared screenshots of what was seen Williams holds her right arm across her chest.

“Oh my god and a nip slip from Venus Williams. This Oscars has become an episode of ‘The Jersey Shore,'” said one person tweeted.

While such a fashion faux pas made the headlines on Oscar night, it was Venus’ friend Will Smith who stole the show.

During the live broadcast, Smith approached Chris Rock on stage and slapped the comedian after making a “GI Jane” joke about Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith – who is bald and suffers from alopecia, an autoimmune condition that causes hair loss caused.

As Smith returned to his seat after the slap at LA’s Dolby Theater, he yelled at Rock to “keep my wife’s name out of your damn mouth.”

Later that night, Smith won the Best Actor Oscar for his role as Richard Williams in King Richard – the biographical sports drama that tells the story of Richard Williams as the father and coach of Venus and Serena. The film was also nominated for Best Picture.

Smith apologized to the Academy in a tearful onstage speech after winning his first Oscar.

Venus Williams, who wore Stuart Weitzman shoes and Tiffany & Co. jewelry, shared a photo of her look on Instagram before her wardrobe failed at the awards show.

“I’ve tried my best to prepare for every moment in life,” she wrote in her caption. “I have trained my mind, body, soul and spirit to be prepared and ready for anything that comes my way. Until now…. Up until now… I could never have dreamed or prepared to be at the @theacademy awards for a film that tells the story of my FAMILY.

“It’s beyond my dream. what can i tell you Keep on dreaming. Keep working. Fight on. You don’t know where life could take you. I’m from Compton, California. And now I allow myself the way here. It’s so good to BE ALIVE!”
