Valorant coaches representing teams in the first VCT Masters event of 2022 are slamming Riot Games after realizing they were placed in the “basement” instead of next to their players.
VCT Masters is scheduled to start on April 10th and will be held in Reykjavík, Iceland. As the 12 teams prepare for battle and the first international cup of the year, the coaches will work in a different environment.
Typically, coaches in sports are usually stationed behind their team with a headset, which may or may not be active during a game. Despite this, they are close enough to their players to communicate when time permits.
However, OpTic Gaming trainer Chet ‘Chet’ Singh revealed that all VCT trainers have been placed in the “basement” of the building where games are played and isolated from their team.

VCT trainers will not be near players
As per Chet’s tweet, coaches have their facility in the “basement” of the venue they use. In another comment, Chet stated that he was “two stories down” from the rest of the competition.
He sarcastically thanked Riot Games as the roster played qualifiers in over two months, only to get to a place no other esports coach has gone before. When asked for a solution, Chet said: “Imagine being able to just stand behind your players with a headset.”
Others were shocked to see that this would be a coach setup for the biggest event of the year so far. People said “they got you dirty” and laughed that that was the setup.
While coaches will still be able to do their job, they find it quite odd that this has to take place in a different environment than the sport is used to.
