The ‘Squid Game’ sequel is likely to be darker than the first.
Netflix hit Squid fishing game is looking for darker possibilities than its first installment. In an interview with Weekly entertainment, the author of the Korean drama Hwang Dong-hyuk discussed his plans for the show’s next season and revealed a potentially shocking backstory.
“I’m not really in the right place to discuss Season 2 in the official context,” he explained through a translator, “but if there were Season 2, in the first season we saw Gi-hun. is a character whose humanity is expressed through or revealed in certain situations. The host continued to describe Gi-hun’s (Lee Jung-jae) humanity is passive and promises Season 2 will show what he’s learned from the games in a much more active way. In his words,
“And at the same time, for Front Man [Lee Byung-hun] who was also a victor in the past but became a Front Man, just like Darth Vader. Some end up Jedi and some become Darth Vader, right? I think that maybe Gi-hun will also go through a certain critical moment where he will also have to go through a test. “
It’s definitely an extremely interesting idea and supports the fan theory that Gi-hun will return to the game. While Netflix has not officially renewed the series for a second season, representatives from the streamer and Dong-hyuk himself are discussing continuing the show. Dong-hyuk has also confirmed that, regardless of the show’s official status, he’s already started planning Gi-hun’s next gamble.
