Ukrainian-born New York GOP Rep. meets with Donald Trump

A Ukrainian-born republican city legislator who recently has called Russian President Vladimir Putin a “terrorist”. met with former President Donald Trump, she revealed on Sunday.

City Councilor Inna Wernikow, one by five GOP members of the bodyShe posted a picture of herself with the former supreme commander and said he had expressed his “solidarity” with Ukrainians in the middle of the country ongoing war with Russia.

“I am grateful to have met President Trump. He commended me for flipping my seat from Democrat to Republican and we spoke about the need to bring our beloved NYC back. Vernikov (R-Southern Brooklyn) tweeted with a picture of himself and Trump giving a thumbs up.

“He expressed his solidarity with the people of Ukraine and sent prayers and love for my constituents from Ukraine.

Vernikov – a 37-year-old who describes herself as a “Ukrainian-born American Jew” – also praised Trump’s foreign policy positions.

“I thank him for everything he has done for our country and for the peace he has brought to the Middle East the Abraham Accords and from Exit from the disastrous Iran dealsaid lawmakers on Twitter Sunday afternoon. “I look forward to another relationship with the unprecedented 45th President of the United States.”

It is unclear when and where the picture was taken.

Vernikov — who grew up in Chernovitz under Soviet rule and immigrated to the United States when she was 12 — thrashed Putin during the war New York State GOP CongressHe said he had “lost his mind” and wanted to “destroy democracy”.

“My victory should send a very loud and clear message to Republicans across the state: As President Barack Obama used to say, yes we can,” she said earlier this month. “We can and we will win.”

Vernikov, from Brighton Beach, is Part of a historically large faction of Republican City Council members who want to create a counterbalance to the overwhelming democratic 51-strong body.

“There are now five Republicans on the council who will be the vote against the progressive wing of the Democratic Party,” Vernikov said said The Post in January.
