Ukraine claims it blew up a bridge in an ambush by a Russian convoy

The Ukrainian military on Thursday released dramatic images of a bridge allegedly blown up by its special forces in an ambush by a Russian tank convoy.
Ukrainian Armed Forces said Russian military vehicles of the Tigr, Kamaz and Ural type were driving over the bridge en route from Kharkiv to Izyum earlier this week when the bridge was blown up.
“The Special Operations Forces operators placed the explosives in a designated location and waited for the enemy, who, unknowingly, drove to their deaths,” the military said in the Facebook post.
“The undermining of the bridge along with Russian technology was carried out according to the established plan and the entire enemy column was destroyed,” added the General Staff.
The post included several photos, which the military said were taken by a drone, showing debris on the destroyed bridge, with smoke billowing from the charred terrain — as well as an image of explosives being planted under the bridge before it was detonated became.
The images were released amid reports that Russia too suffered a major setback when a warship was severely damaged in an explosion.
Ukraine claimed it struck the 610-foot missile cruiser Moskva – the flagship of Russia’s Black Sea – with two Neptune missiles, although Moscow attributed the blast to a fire that detonated ammunition on the ship.

The ship gained notoriety when attacked Ukrainian troops told it to “piss off”.
Later on Thursday, the Russian Defense Ministry said sailors had contained the fire and that measures were being taken to tow the Moskva back to port, Reuters reported.
