Two people are injured in a car shooting at a funeral at a Nashville church

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Two people were injured in a drive-by shooting in Nashville on Saturday as they and others walked out of the church from the funeral of a woman who was fatally shot earlier this month, police said.
Metro Nashville Police Department spokesman Don Aaron said the afternoon shooting took place outside New Season Church, where a memorial service for 19-year-old Terriana Johnson had just ended. The hearse was parked out front with the back door open and people poured out of the church when the shooting started, Aaron said.
Police say they are on the lookout for a later-model black Honda Civic with a temporary tag, from which one or more gunmen fired when the car went by, hitting an 18-year-old woman in the leg and a 25-year-old man. old man in the pool. Neither were considered life-threatening injuries, Aaron said.
Some attendees at the memorial service for Johnson – who was not a member of the host church – were armed and shot the car, Aaron said.
The shooting happened before Johnson’s body was removed from the church, police said, and her funeral was held later that afternoon.
Authorities are on the lookout for a 17-year-old charged with criminal manslaughter in Johnson’s fatal Nov. 14 shooting at Watkins Park. Police allege the teenager opened fire on a car Johnson was driving in after Johnson and the suspect’s sister were engaged in a fight shortly before.
Aaron said the shooting “appears to be a beef of sorts between two groups of people,” but not necessarily between members of the two families.
“That was just a brazen shooting,” Aaron told reporters. “These people have absolutely no regard for human life.”
