Two off-duty police officers among three NYPD employees were arrested

Two off-duty police officers were arrested in separate street incidents in the city on Saturday – one for escaping after a fender flare and the other for driving while intoxicated, police said.

A third NYPD employee, a civilian, was hit by an assault in another arrest Sunday, police officers said.

Off-duty officer Jonathan Altamirano, 33, was driving down Roosevelt Avenue in Queens around 3:50 a.m. Saturday when he followed another vehicle and exited the scene, police said.

The 70-year-old man who was in the 2021 Toyota sedan that struck Altamirano suffered from neck and back pain, police officers said.

Altamirano was arrested around 7 p.m. and charged with leaving the scene of the accident, which caused injuries, according to police.

Off-duty officer Nerys Ramirez, 40, was then pulled over around 5 a.m. at Harlem River Drive and Dyckman Street in Inwood, Manhattan, police officers said.

She showed signs of intoxication but declined to take a breath test to measure her blood alcohol levels, authorities said.

Ramirez was charged with drunk driving, drunk driving and refusing to take a breathalyzer, police officers said.

Also on Sunday, NYPD civilian employee Lasheakwa Tanksley, a police communications technician, was arrested in Brooklyn’s 70th Precinct and charged with assault after an argument with her sister, police officers said.

Tanksley, 30, was arrested at 3:42 a.m., police said.

Police had no details about the dispute or the attack.

None of the three NYPD employees could be reached by phone.
