Two NYPD officers were injured by a fleeing driver during a NYC hitchhike

Two police officers were injured when a fleeing driver hit them during a hitchhike in Brooklyn on Thursday night, police said.

Officers were conducting a traffic stop on Empire Boulevard and Flatbush Avenue in Prospect Lefferts Gardens around 6:50 p.m. when the 25-year-old male driver accelerated forward – knocking both officers to the ground before jumping out of his car and running away. the authorities said.

Other forces arrested the suspect “a short distance away,” police said.

Both officers were taken to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.

Charges were pending against the driver on Friday.
