THOMAS TUCHEL has accused Prem executives of putting the health of Chelsea stars at ‘huge risk’.
Premier League bosses refuse Chelsea’s request to call away yesterday’s clash with Wolves like By Tuchel reporting more positive cases.
The Blues could only name 14 outfield players for the 0-0 draw at Molineux, leaving them six points behind the league leader City of Manchester.
Manager Tuchel said: “We have faced a huge risk to the health and safety of the players, not only because of Covid but also physically.
“We’ve got a strong case regarding the security and health of the players – we have seven positive cases. It is very difficult to understand it.
“I’m worried, we’ve had four consecutive positive days.
“How is it going to stop if we’re on the bus and in meetings together if we pretend it’s not happening?
“We’re frustrated, we’re a little bit angry.”
The German, who has confirmed his backroom staff have also been decimated by the virus, questioned whether Chelsea’s Carabao Cup quarter-final against Brentford may go ahead on Wednesday.
He added: “When they make us play against Brentford, won’t we come?
“Aren’t we going to practice anymore? What are we going to do? Everyone is worried.
“It was everything else but calm. We talk about protecting players and a safe environment but it’s not safe.”
Club Head Prem will meet on Monday to discuss further postponement after a weekend where six out of ten matches were postponed.
Some clubs want to postpone all matches scheduled from December 28 to 30.
Klopp says clubs ‘need help’ and has called for the Carabao Cup semi-finals to be a stage to minimize congestion.
Thiago Alcantara becomes his fourth player to test positive first Liverpool’s 2-2 draw at Tottenham’s field.
Klopp said last week that he saw no benefit in stopping the season.
But yesterday he added: “If next week we lose another player and another player, playing on the 26th and 28th is impossible.
“It’s impossible, we don’t have the players. It was a very strange time and no one could get through it.
“Everybody thought, ‘what did I do to Thiago’ and all that. We talk about humans and I’m happy to play, but we need help.
“If we continue, we cannot continue as usual. We need help with schedules.
“First take away the second semi-final of the Carabao Cup. Just play once, wherever you play, I don’t care.
“It’s not fair to help some teams lose players. It’s a bit of a lottery and good luck if you have players. I saw Thomas Tuchel on the bench today, instead he has to bring on Mateo Kovacic, who has just returned from a long-term injury.
“If we continue, we cannot continue as usual. Teams that can compete need help from the schedule.
“For teams that are not in international football there may be points where you can play but if you play international football you are pretty full until the end of May.
“We said before Coronavirus that it was a bit busy and people obviously couldn’t make enough of football or the money they received, no one backed down and now corona gives us a proper punch and tell us you can’t go on like this and we have to look at that.”
Tuchel could only name six Chelsea substitutes at Wolves – two of which are goalkeepers.
Ben Chilwell, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku are all self-isolating, tested positive for Covid-19 in the middle of the week.
Meanwhile Jorginho, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Kai Havertz are also missing at Molineux.
He added: “I understand people will say they still have 14 players but let’s look at it in a little more detail.
“Trevoh Chalobah has two training sessions, Kovacic one and N’Golo Kante one.
“We have sent 14 precious players to play in the Premier League – the toughest league in the world.
“We can survive a game but surely at some point we will have to pay the price.”
