TSA scheduled December holiday travel to approach pre-pandemic levels – CBS Baltimore

WASHINGTON (WJZ) – The Transportation Security Administration expects passenger traffic at US airports to approach pre-pandemic levels during the holiday season.
Agents screened 21 million passengers over a 10-day period around the Thanksgiving holiday.

More than 31,000 people flying out of BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport The Wednesday before Thanksgiving marks a new high for passenger traffic since the start of the pandemic, an airport official said.
With Christmas and New Year’s Eve approaching, TSA advises passengers to arrive two hours early for domestic flights or three hours early for international flights, and avoid peak airport hours if possible. – usually between 5-7 am or 4-6 pm.

“We see an increase in air travel in the pre-pandemic direction and our goal is to ensure that passengers have a safe and secure flight.” TSA Administrator David Pekoske. “We work hard with our airport and airline partners to achieve this by ensuring screening operations meet upcoming demand.”
The agency also advises travelers to study the instructions what is allowed in checked baggage and hand baggage.

The agency said the mask requirement still applies at US airports and has been extended through March 18, 2022.
