TSA agents jump over the conveyor belt and save a two-month-old baby who stopped breathing at the checkpoint

A TSA officer jumped over the roller of a conveyor belt and saved a toddler who had stopped breathing at an airport checkpoint.

Cecilia Morales was in the security check-in area at Newark Liberty International Airport when she heard screams for help after the boy’s mother noticed the boy was not breathing as she lifted him from the car seat.

Footage released by the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA), shows Morales taking action to resuscitate the child on December 9 after the boy’s mother noticed he was choking.

The fast-thinking TSA agent performed an infant version of the Heimlich maneuver, placing the infant face down on her arm and patting her on the back.

She tried the move a second time before he began to breathe.

This is the first time she has performed the technique on an infant, she said.

A pediatrician arrived a short time later to give the baby oxygen.

A spokesman for the TSA said the agency did not know what caused the baby to stop breathing.

Morales said: “I watched the video afterwards. It was the first time I found myself in action, saving a life.

“It was impressive to watch. I feel that my training and experience have continued. ”

“Two months on the job and she’s truly a lifesaver,” said Thomas Carter, TSA’s Federal Security Director in New Jersey.

Officer Morales’ quick response and action helped ensure that this family enjoyed a happy holiday. Her actions were inspirational.”
