Trump was slammed by fellow Republicans for Kanye West and Nick Fuentes’ dinner

Republicans have blasted Donald Trump for meeting with embattled rapper Kanye West and white nationalist Nick Fuentes at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida – with one saying he found the meeting “troubling,” and one another urged the ex-president to use better judgment when choosing his dining companions.

“No, I don’t think it’s a good idea for a leader who sets an example for the country or the party to meet with (an) self-confessed racist or anti-Semite. And so it’s very worrying and it shouldn’t be happening, and we have to avoid that kind of empowerment of the extremes,” Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson told CNN’s Dana Bash “State of the Nation.”

“You want to diminish their strength, not increase them. Stay away from it,” said Hutchinson, who has said he’s considering running for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.

Trump, 76, announced a third White House bid earlier this month during an event at his Palm Beach resort.

The former president has admitted meeting with West, known as Ye, and Fuentes, who attended the 2017 white supremacist demonstrations in Charlottesville, Virginia, noting that “the math isn’t too seems to agree” for the 6 million Jewish deaths in the Holocaust.

Rep. James Comer — a Kentucky Republican who is widely expected to chair the House Oversight Committee when the House reconvenes under GOP control after the first of the year — was featured on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” asked about the controversial Tuesday dinner. ”

“He certainly needs to judge better who he dines with. I know he made a statement. He said he didn’t know who these people were,” Comer said of Trump.

When asked by host Chuck Todd if he would ever date Fuentes, Comer replied, “I would not, however, date that person. I wouldn’t date Kanye West either, but that’s my opinion.”

Hutchinson, who is on a temporary contract in Arkansas, said he hopes not to have to respond to Trump’s antics in the future, but said it’s important to do so in this situation.

“The last time I met with a white supremacist it was in an armed standoff. I was wearing a bulletproof vest. We arrested them, persecuted them, sent them to prison. And so, no, I don’t think it’s a good idea for a leader who sets an example for the country or the party to meet with a self-confessed racist or anti-Semite,” he said on CNN.

West, 45, has lost billion-dollar endorsements at Adidas, Vogue, Balenciaga and other companies after he knocked “Jewish businessmen” and said he was going “death toll 3 against JEWISH PEOPLE.”

Both he and Fuentes have been banned from Twitter and other social media platforms for their anti-Semitic rants.

Trump said in a statement emailed to The Post on Friday that West wanted to have dinner with him but showed up Tuesday with Fuentes at Mar-a-Lago, whom Trump claimed he didn’t know.

But even as the 45th president tried to put distance between himself and the Holocaust denier, West released a video Thursday saying, “Trump is really impressed with Nick Fuentes.”

On Saturday, Trump called West a “seriously concerned man.”

“So I help a seriously troubled man who just so happens to be Black Ye (Kanye West) who has been decimated in his business and practically everything else and who has always been good to me by accommodating his request to meet at Mar-a.” -Lago alone so I can give him some much-needed ‘advice’,” Trump said on Truth Social.
