Tropical Storm Colin hits the NC coast

RALEIGH, NC (WNCN) – Tropical Storm Colin formed near the South Carolina coast in the early hours with maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour.

Colin will continue to move northeast this afternoon, arriving near Wilmington between 2pm and 4pm with little change in overall intensity.

Tropical storm warnings are in place along the North Carolina coast due to the effects of Colin.

Residents and visitors along the coast can expect heavy rain and gusty winds up to tropical gale force over the next 24 hours.

Colin will head into the Atlantic late tomorrow afternoon.
