Trio snatches man’s bag with rings worth $150,000 in New York subway station: cops

A trio snatched the backpack of a lower Manhattan straphanger with $150,000 worth of rings, authorities said.
The 52-year-old victim was at the Canal Street subway station around 2:10 p.m. on November 28 when he set the bag on the floor as he tried to remove a MetroCard from his wallet, police officers said.
A woman then told him he dropped some money, police said.
After collecting the cash, the straphanger found his backpack had been replaced with another bag he didn’t recognize – and the expensive jewelry stash was nowhere to be seen.
Police late Wednesday released a photo of the woman – as well as two men who they say “collaborated” with her to steal the book bag.
As of early Thursday, no arrests had been made.
It wasn’t immediately clear why the victim was wearing the expensive rings or if he was being targeted.
