Traffic in Houston: Southbound lanes of the Southwest Freeway at Bellaire are closed through Thursday

The gate closure was scheduled to last until Tuesday, but cold weather has slowed the curing process.

TXDOT released the following statement:

“During TxDOT’s scheduled bridge inspection, we discovered that a number of repairs need to be made to maintain the life of the bridge structure. We are making all necessary repairs within this closure to prevent further closures.The deck was poured at 5pm on Sunday.curing usually takes only 48 hours, but due to the large pouring area combined with the cold temperatures the curing process is slow. took longer than expected. Cold weather slows curing. We closed the system until 5pm on Thursday but it could open earlier than that.”
