Tottenham’s latest managerial target is ‘aware of Spurs connections’ and has won 20 trophies

Ange Postecoglou is aware of speculation linking him with Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur but says his only focus is on a positive end to another outstanding Celtic season.

With Arne Slot faring like Xabi Alonso and Julian Nagelsmann – the Feyenoord boss is the latest manager to turn his nose up at a job that is quickly becoming a poisoned goblet – Spurs’ protracted chase threatens to turn into a rather pathetic parody from 2021.

The question is: who will be Daniel Levy’s next Nuno Espirito Santo?

Ange Postecoglou, like Nuno two years ago, would potentially arrive at Tottenham with a reputation already damaged in the eyes of Spurs fans, simply because he obviously was far away from the first goal of the club.

The Independent Say Postecoglou, who actually ticks more criteria than most when it comes to fitting in with Spurs’ so-called ‘DNA’, is now emerging as the club’s newest manager front-runner.

Will Ange Postecoglou leave Celtic for Tottenham Hotspur?

“I’m aware of that,” Postecoglou said daily record at his press conference on Friday. “Because everyone keeps asking me about it!

“But I’ve made it pretty clear that that’s just not the way I think and work. My priority right now is just to make sure we have a special day tomorrow and a big cup final in a week.”

Second consecutive champion under Postecoglou; Celtic will once again get their hands on a very familiar piece of silver when Aberdeen travel to Parkhead on Saturday lunchtime. And with a Scottish Cup final against Inverness Caledonian Thistle looming, the former Australia and Yokohama F Marinos manager is keeping the rumors at bay as he focuses on the task ahead.

Already 20 trophies

“My goal now is to enjoy tomorrow. “Play a good game and then try to win a cup final and make it a special season,” adds Postecoglou Sky Sports.

“You don’t get the chance to win a treble every year, and anyone who thinks I think anything other than that doesn’t know me.”

“One thing I know for sure, if you don’t focus on the task at hand, destiny will be taken out of your hands.

“I’ve worked really hard in my career not to get into that situation and I’ve done that to make sure I don’t think about anything else beyond what happens this week.

“I think what the Celtic fans want is that their manager is now focused on what’s important to them.

“I don’t want to think our fans want me to think about anything other than having a great game tomorrow, having a great day and then winning a cup final to make it a treble, which makes it a special one year.”

Should Postecoglou defeat Inverness at Hampden Park with his Celtic side, his personal trophy tally will rise to an incredible 21.
