Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirms the introduction of the Government’s Plan B against the Omicron variant in Downing Street.
That would see “vaccine passports” introduced to all sporting events with crowds of more than 10,000 as of Wednesday.
Initially, fans will have to show that they have been vaccinated twice or proof of a negative result within 24 hours of the game to be allowed in.
It is unclear whether that means every fan is being tested or continuing with tests in place, with the Government weighing whether it should leave the decision to local Safety Advisory Groups. to make the last call or not.
But some Prem Clubs fear that fans may want to reduce the price of their match or season tickets if they feel the restrictions are too hard.
That could become more urgent if, as the Prime Minister alluded to on Wednesday, the Government moves to a policy of compulsory vaccination.
And clubs are calling on Prem heads to accumulate money instead of seeing their funds lose another. Covid to hit.
