‘Top money’: Tim Sherwood says club won’t sell his forward to Tottenham Hotspur

Sky Sports pundit Tim Sherwood doesn’t think Tottenham Hotspur can sign Evan Ferguson from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer transfer window.

That’s what the former Tottenham Hotspur manager said Sky Sports News (2:10 p.m. 19 Aug 2023) that Brighton will not sell Evan Ferguson to Spurs by the end of the window.

Sherwood believes Brighton will keep the forward for this season and potentially sell him next summer or in a couple of years when his value has skyrocketed.

The Sky Sports pundit reckons Brighton could ask as much as £80million for the 18-year-old Republic of Ireland international if they eventually benefit from him.

Tottenham Hotspur announced that Evan Ferguson will not join them this summer

Sherwood had his say on Ferguson when former Spurs defender Michael Dawson suggested him as a possible transfer target for Tottenham.

TEAMtalk reported last week that Tottenham are looking to sign Ferguson from Brighton this summer and have inquired about a potential deal for the striker.

According to the report, the Seagulls do not want to sell.

Sherwood said: “Everyone leaves Brighton to make top money.”

“So if Tottenham were to bring Ferguson, which sounds like a good idea, they’re not giving him away because he hasn’t exhausted his position.

“If you play this season you get up to £80m or whatever, Touchwood for heaven’s sake and then he would be out of Tottenham’s price range.”

We agree with Sherwood.

We don’t think Tottenham can sign Ferguson this summer.

No way.

Brighton won’t sell the 18-year-old now if they can help him grow and develop and then monetize him in two or three years.

After all, Ferguson is a promising young striker who can only get better.

The teenager has made 22 Premier League appearances so far in his career.

The forward has scored seven goals and provided two assists in those games.

Meanwhile, former Manchester United star Roy Keane has currently tempered the hype surrounding Yves Bissouma.

Bissouma has been outstanding in the first two games of Tottenham’s new Premier League season.

The 26-year-old Mali international was one of the best players on the pitch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Spurs beat United on Saturday.

Sky Sports pundit Keane has noted that Bissouma has not always played well over the last season and is waiting to see if he can maintain his form in the coming weeks.

Keane said about Bissouma in the Sky Sports Premier League (8:12 p.m. Aug 19, 2023): “We saw him last year.

“In a couple of games I saw him under the previous coach, his body language wasn’t great.

“Maybe this new manager will bring out the best in him.”
