Tom Cruise jumps out of the helicopter to thank fans for the success of Top Gun: Maverick

Tom Cruise jumped out of a helicopter to thank his fans for his film Top Gun: Maverick‘s theater success.

The 60-year-old actor attempted the stunt just before the 2022 film made its way to streaming network Paramount+.

Top Gun: Maverick is Paramount Pictures’ biggest hit of the year, grossing $1.4 billion worldwide.

To thank his fans, Cruise went on a solo free fall dive over the ocean in South Africa.

“Hey everyone, here we are over sunny South Africa,” Cruise said right before the jump. “And we film Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Parts one and two.

“I didn’t want the year to end without thanking you all for coming to theaters and thank you for supporting me Top Gun: Maverick,” he added.

The actor also introduced himself dead reckoning Writer and director Christopher McQuarrie sits next to him in the helicopter.

“Listen, we really gotta roll, we gotta get that shot,” McQuarrie tells Cruise.

“Oh yes, we’re filming. We gotta get that shot. Are you coming?” Cruise replied.

“Not on your life. Good luck,” McQuarrie replied, to which Cruise said, “See you down there.”

That Jack Reacher Star then jumped off and began falling freely through the sky.

“As always, thank you for allowing us to entertain you. It’s really the honor of our lives,” Cruise said during his fall.

“Very happy. I’m running out of altitude so I better get back to work. We need to get that shot. Have a very safe and happy holiday. See you at the cinema.”

After its publication in May, Joseph Kosinski’s Top Gun: Maverick received positive reviews from critics and fans.
