Tom Chaplin Revealed As Poodle When He Was Removed From Masked Singer

Tom Chaplin has become the fifth contestant to be eliminated from Masked singer because he is called Poodle.

Chaplin is best known as the lead singer of the band Keane.

On Saturday night’s episode (January 22), he performed a cover of “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield.

Robobunny and Poodle placed last in the last two seasons of the episode, and the judges ultimately chose to take Robobunny through to the next round.

Speaking to ITV after the episode, Chaplin explained the reasoning behind his outfit choice.

“One of the prerequisites for doing the show was that I had to be a poodle,” he said. “My wife has a poodle that lives to be 17 and is an integral part of our lives, so it seemed the perfect choice.”

When asked about the judges’ conjectures about his identity, Chaplin described them as “hopeless”.

He said: “Among the conjectures were Snoop Dogg, Grayson Perry and a vague hint that I simply must be a drag queen!

“I’m so glad they’ve finally stuck with Mika, who is a great singer and performer. I have to admit, it’s surprising that Jonathan doesn’t care about me at all, especially since I’ve had to be on his TV show several times over the years. ”
