Titanfall fans are furious after a rogue Titanfall 3 placeholder box was discovered at GameStop

Titanfall fans are furious after a rogue placeholder box for Titanfall 3 was spotted at a GameStop in Germany, leading some to believe a release date announcement is imminent.

Rumors of a sequel to Titanfall 2, the title that spawned Apex Legends, have been rife for years. EA hinted at the possibility in August 2020. However, Respawn downplayed her shortly thereafter.

However, that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating whether Titanfall 3 is in development. After all, some of the signs seem promising.

Now they’re rampaging after someone spotted a placeholder box at a GameStop in Germany.

Titanfall 3 is rumored to be in development.

The fan posted a picture from what looks like a placeholder field on the Titanfall subreddit. It will be placed alongside other “confirmed” titles such as FIFA 23 and Dragon Age 4, along with a “Pre-order now” message.

Some were skeptical as it is happened before. Also, placeholders don’t always mean confirming something. However, the fan said the staff seemed to take it “pretty seriously”, even accepting a €10 deposit.

“A staff member told me it would probably come out in the fall,” they said. “But there was no release date announced on the box, so I don’t know. I’m still not 100% sure if I was scammed, but if others saw it too, must there be something?”

The uncertainty about this didn’t stop other fans from losing their minds. The post exploded, drawing 4000 upvotes and 200 comments. “I’m sorry? It’s on pre-order? There’s no meme tag on it!” wrote a fan.

However, it’s important to note that nothing has been confirmed and no other retail outlets have listed the game for pre-order. So, as a fan who Expectations being a GameStop employee said, “Don’t get your hopes up.”
