Timothy Cardinal Dolan makes a surprise visit to Ukraine

Cardinal Timothy Dolan made a surprise visit to Ukraine on Monday.
The Catholic Archbishop of New York posted a video from Lviv on Twitter in western Ukraine.
“We weren’t sure if we were going to come here, but – thank God – we were able to leave Poland yesterday and come here to Ukraine,” said Dolan, who has toured refugee and aid facilities in neighboring Poland and Slovakia.

During his stay in Ukraine, Dolan said he met with several internally displaced Ukrainians, including a 94-year-old woman from the Donbass region and a family who fled Mariupol.
The United Nations estimates that around 7.7 million people have been displaced by fighting inside Ukraine.
Alongside a video showing pallets of donated fresh water, Dolan implored his social media followers to keep donating goods and money to aid efforts in Ukraine.

“I have to pass it on to you because I’ve heard it over and over again.” he tweeted. ” ‘Tell the people of the United States how grateful we are for their help.’ “
