Time to move out of Jackson County jail site

Jackson COUNTY, Mo. – Movement day has arrived for dozens of people living at the mobile home park, which will soon be the site of a new Jackson County jail. Even if they don’t have anywhere to go.
Owners Heart Village mobile home park along the highway US 40 sell it to the county in July. The county purchased the land, but the dead did not include any mobile homes parked on it.
Some people have rented houses. The previous owner gave those tenants a November 30 deadline to find a new place to live.
Jackson County said it requested an extension from the former property owner, but said the owner denied the county’s request. Instead, the county was told that tenants would have to vacate the property until December 5.
It’s a different situation for people who live at the Heart Village park, who own their trailers, or who are on a lease-to-own agreement. They have until February 28 to move locations.
The county said as of December 1, it knows 30 people are in the process of moving and 34 others have left. That leaves about 40 people still living on the property.
The county is give each household $10,000 to help with relocation and have a team work with each person or family to find new housing.
