Tiger Woods rallies to cut at the PGA Championship

Tiger Woods flirted with the cutting line at the PGA Championship late Friday afternoon when Tiger Woods 5-iron approach from 210 yards on the par-16 at Southern Hills hopped onto the green, settling 4 feet from the hole and an easy one Birdie set up try for the 15-time major champion.

Woods made the putt, helping secure a spot in the second major of the year over the weekend. He finished with a 1-under 69 and is 3-over in two rounds, a dozen shots behind leader Will Zlatoris.

In his first start since the Masters in April and a day after admitting his surgically repaired right leg wasn’t as strong as he’d like, Woods managed four birdies and penalized fewer than in the opening round, although he recovered hobbled .

He also found himself in trouble after his drive shot on the par-3 11th went too long and went left. Woods made a mess out of the hole and went on to make a double bogey, putting him on the wrong side of the cut line.

Two holes later, however, Woods rallied with a birdie on the par-5 13 before adding three more holes later to advance into the final two rounds.
