Queen is celebrating her Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years on the throne, the first weekend in June.

And the country will have one more bank holiday to toast her time at Buckingham Palace on Friday 3 June.

Thursday, June 2 will also be a bank holiday, as the end of May bank holiday, which usually falls on a Monday, has been moved to give Britons a bountiful four-day weekend.

Buckingham Palace said longer weekend will provide “an opportunity for communities across the UK to come together and celebrate the historic milestone”.

But bank holidays may affect your usual payment date for General Credit and other payments Welfare payments.

For example, during Christmas, many claimants have pay early on Christmas Eve.

Here, we explain how your payments may be affected over Queen’s Jubilee weekend.

When will Universal Credit be paid out at Queen’s weekend?

Universal Credit is paid once a month to your bank, builder or credit union account.

If your benefit payment date falls on bank holiday, you will usually be paid the previous business day.

That means you’ll get your General Credit payment sooner than usual if your payment is scheduled to fall on Thursday, June 2 or Friday, June 3.

Expect payment on the previous business day, Wednesday, June 1.

You don’t need to do anything – changing the payment date will happen automatically.

If your payment date falls on a normal business day on either side of the long weekend, you will receive your payment as usual.

What other benefit payment dates will change over Queen’s Jubilee weekend?

General Credit isn’t the only benefit that may be affected by bank holidays.

The following payment dates are also subject to change:

Will the amount of General Credit I am paid change?

The amount of General Credit you receive will not change if paid on a different day during a bank holiday.

Any other benefit will not, unless you have had a change of circumstances affecting the amount you receive at the same time.

Remember, getting paid earlier than usual means you’ll need to earn more days as you’ll have to wait until the next month’s payment.

Make sure you take this into account when calculating your family budget.

If your funds are not being paid on time, then you should double-check your normal payment date and contact your bank before calling the DWP.

If something goes wrong, you can too file a complaint with the DWP.

What other bank holidays may affect General Credit?

The long June weekend for Queen’s Celebration isn’t the only bank break you’ll be getting in 2022.

The next bank holiday is April 15 for Good Friday, followed by April 18 for Easter Monday, giving Britons another four-day holiday weekend.

Anyone in Northern Ireland will get an earlier bank holiday on 17 March on St Patrick’s Day.

There is an early May bank holiday on Monday, May 2, before the June jubilee bank holiday.
