‘They will sell’: Tottenham said it would be ‘worse’ if an ‘exciting’ player joined Chelsea instead of Spurs

Charles Watts says it would be “worse” if Folarin Balogun joined Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea instead of Arsenal’s Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur.
The 22-year-old scored 21 goals in France’s top flight last season and despite those efforts it seems he has no future at Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
Watts claimed Arsenal will, in his own words, “sell” their Hale-End academy product this summer Youtube channel.
While clubs in Italy and France have knocked on the door for Folarian Balogun, two surprising names in Tottenham and Chelsea have emerged to try and secure his signature, as reported by 90 mins And Gazzetta dello Sport,
With Balogun’s current contract expiring in 2025 and claims he wants to play in the first team regularly, the Gunners must look to sign the player.
But could he wear the Tottenham or Chelsea shirt soon? Well, Watts shared why it would be “worse” if he went to Stamford Bridge.

“Ideally, they wouldn’t have to sell Balogun,” Watts said. “He would have to have a long-term contract, then we would invest a little more time in development.
“But because of his contract issues, because of his ambition to play now and become a regular, I think Arsenal just have to sell.” I think it’s pretty clear they’re going to sell. The fact that he’s not part of the squad at the moment suggests that.
“Monaco are interested and their offer was rejected so we’ll wait and see if they can come up with a second offer that’s more acceptable to Arsenal.”
“But if you look at Chelsea, the deals they do and the money they spend, if someone comes in and hits the mark Arsenal want for Balogun, then Chelsea would be one of those clubs.” I would feel worse , if I were to sell Balogun to Chelsea than to Spurs. Tottenham seems a bit irrelevant to me.
“That’s strange because, apart from last season, Spurs have done better than Arsenal for six seasons in a row. They were better than Arsenal. I think Chelsea will come back. Pochettino is a good manager.”

Balogun makes a bold call
There is no doubt that if Balogun accepted a long-term deal with Arsenal, the fans and those in charge at the club would be pleased.
But he’s brave and wants to earn those regular starts instead of sitting on the bench, which in truth he would be doing at Emirates.
That’s why he was dubbed “one of the most exciting players” in Europe by one of his personal trainers.
