“Not that I really wanted to kill Tanya because I love her as a character and obviously love Jennifer, but I just felt like we were going to Italy. [and] She’s such a diva, a larger than life female archetype,” he said.

“It just felt like we could make up our own opera ending to Tanya’s life and story.”

Discussing his decision for Tanya’s accidental “Derpy death,” White added, “It felt like she had to fight back as best she could and in a way win a victory over whoever was conspiring to get rid of her .

“So it just made me laugh to think that she was going to take out that whole crew of killers and that after she successfully did that, she just died that stupid death. It just felt like it was Tanya.” The White Lotus: Mike White explains why he killed the main character
