A Warzone tournament match ended in the most devastating way when a game-changing error broke what could have been a crucial clutch at the last moment.
Without a ranked mode in Warzone, players will have to look outside of the game for top-notch competition. given Elite Tournaments with six-figure prize pools are often invitation-only, leaving room for community-run events like the Z league.
Hundreds often flock to these regular tournaments to test their skills and earn some cash on the side. As you would expect, matches are more intense than usual during these events as everyone competes for first place.
While misses are bad enough in the heat of the moment, there’s nothing worse than not having a loss on your hands. That’s exactly what happened on March 29th, when a budding Warzone amateur fell victim to a game-wrecking bug in the final moments of an event.
The last Z-League event took place when the players fought their way through newly revised version of Rebirth Island. With four operators remaining, there was only one dot between the Reddit user ‘Thrill‘ and a tournament win.
As the last zone started to move, they seemed in the perfect position for a sneaky kill. An enemy settled in front of them and everything seemed to fall into place until disaster struck. The opposing player snapped around and immediately gunned her down, seemingly through some terrain.
From their perspective, the enemy had just shot them through the map. From the enemy’s point of view, however, there was no terrain in sight to block their shots.
It turned out that a rendering issue was causing textures to drop out on Rebirth. Unfortunately for the player on the brink of victory, this error occurred at the worst possible moment.
“I definitely wanted to wait until I got around that ‘hill,'” they explained. “Was very upset when my killcam showed there was no hill at all. Developers need to get their game fixed.”
There is no telling exactly how much was at stake in this particular event. Although prices regardless, it would clearly hurt to be so close to a win and take it away.
Despite recent changes in Rebirth, many of which have left Caldera fans jealousthere always seems to be a chance that Warzone’s maps could ruin the best of plans without warning.
