JESSE LINGARD last night hit back at Ralf Rangnick’s claims that he wanted a few days off.

The star, who became a freelance agent in June, has refuse a final day move to Newcastle or West Ham by the club despite having rejected a new deal.

Lingard, 29, has played just 88 minutes in the Premier League this term but could have been set up for a rare appearance on Friday in the Premier League. FA Cup vs Middlesbrough.

That is until United’s interim boss Rangnick announces midfield not available for selection due to the requirement for a break to ‘clear the mind’.

That led to backlash from Lingard tonight on Twitter denying those claims.

The England player confided: “The club advised me to quit for personal reasons!

“But my headspace is very clear and I will always be professional when called upon and give 100%.”

Rangnick stated: “Jesse asked if we could give him a few days off to clear his mind. He will return to training on Monday and be part of the team.”

The United boss also said that striker Edinson Cavani has asked for the weekend off.

It comes after the legend of the Red Devils Gary Neville criticized his former employers for allowing the stars to quit.

He joked: “Sue wants a day off, Alan is on vacation, John is sick, Barry gives his notice, Clive says he can be there and Barbara will be on the record!”

Lingard’s departure came just a few weeks later Rangnick and Anthony Martial, who joined Sevilla on loan, had an embarrassing argument.

Rangnick claims that Martial refused to feature in United’s squad for last month’s draw with Aston Villa.

The player then denied he refused to play He said on his social media page: “I would never refuse to play a game for Man United.

“I’ve been here for seven years and I’ve never been disrespectful and will never be disrespectful to the club and the fans.”

Rangnick refused to change his stance afterward, reiterating that the striker did not want to be involved.

“All that needed to be said I said after the press conference,” he said.

“I had a chat with him on Sunday, a personal conversation with him about what happened and how I see the whole situation. The matter has now been resolved.”
