Kym, now 63, was already well known as a good person and had several acting honors before she was cast as Gretl in The Sound of Music.

The hit film tells the story of Austrian nun Maria – played by Julie Andrews – who ends up working as a nanny for the wealthy Von Trapp family.

The story is set in 1938 when the protagonist ends up falling in love with the father of seven von Trapp children, who later becomes their stepmother.

It’s been 56 years since the movie was first released and all of the movie’s stars look completely different than they did back then, especially von Trapps’.

The cubs of seven are made up of two sons and five daughters; Friedrich, Louisa, Kurt, Brigitta, Marta, Liesl and youngest child Gretl.

Kym had starred in Spencer’s Mountain with Henry Fonda at the age of three, as well as The Thrill Of It All with Doris Day and James Garner, before the film.

The actress appeared in several scenes alongside main star Julie, including a scene where she was thrown into the water from a boat.

Kym recently revealed that she still doesn’t like swimming after nearly drowning in the scene, as she hasn’t been taught how to swim.

She turned her attention away from acting in her teens, and went on to graduate from the University of Southern California with a degree in the humanities.

The star then moved to Paris, where she modeled and studied art history, as well as married Philippe L’Equilbec, with whom she shares a son.

Kym returned to acting in 2005 and starred in several big-name productions including The Brady Bunch, All My Children and an episode of Lost In Space.

She and her family moved back to the US to settle in Conneticut to allow her to be closer to more filming locations.

Kym isn’t the only Sound of Music star who looks completely different from the movie – with Liesl von Trapp star Charmian Carr also shocked the fans.

Charmin Carr is the actress who played the prominent role of Liesel, the popular “16 to 17” character, in the movie, as the song explains.

At the time, the star was actually just 23 years old and beat out some big names like Geraldine Chaplin and Mia Farrow for the role.

Despite her popularity in the role, Charmin dropped out of acting and retired from her career to start a family and run her own business.

She ran a successful interior design business in California and raised two daughters in the years that followed.

However, she hasn’t made Sound of Music famous in the past, taking the time to write two books about the experience titled Forever Liesl and Letters to Liesl.

At 70 years old, Charmin still looks as gorgeous as she did in the Sound of Music, and while it might not be immediately obvious, her bright blue eyes still stand out.

Sadly, she passed away on September 17, 2016, aged 73 at her home in Los Angeles, California, from the effects of frontal dementia.
