Republicans are reinventing voter mobilization — recruiting drivers at gas stations while pumping some of it most expensive fuel in history.
“I’ve never been so excited about gas in my life,” he said GOP activist Scott Presler.
Presler dispatched dozens of volunteers to gas stations across the city and Long Island on Saturday to recruit new voters ahead of the November midterm election — and to persuade registered Democrats to switch parties.
The effort comes amid incredible Price increase at the pump — $4.78 a gallon in Manhattan on Friday, up from $2.99 a year ago — has led motorists to blame President Joe Biden.
Some were Beating Biden decals exclaim “I did that!” at gas pumps across the country, including in the five counties.
“We’re going to use Joe Biden as a carrot to get people to vote,” said Virginia-based Presler, 33, a right-wing social media star who runs voter registration campaigns nationwide. “I can’t think of a more useless president.”
Hoisting signs like “Pain at the pump? Vote Republican,” Presler’s squad wanted to catch the angriest drivers.
“Our goal is not to be confrontational, but to have an open conversation,” he said.
They also handed out the meme-worthy stickers and encouraged angry motorists to spread the anti-Biden message.
“This is Trolling 101 — yeah, let’s make it alive,” Presler said. “Life is too short to be angry all the time.”
