BRITS is gearing up for a four-day Bank Holiday weekend this summer as the Queen marks her Platinum Jubilee.
The four-day Bonanza, which falls on the first weekend of June, is set to explode with dishes from King95 years old, when she celebrated 70 years on the throne.
A huge national pudding contest will spark some celebration, while thousands of jubilant lunches will be held in honor of England’s longest-reigning monarch.
The May Bank Holiday weekend – which usually falls towards the end of the month – will be moved to Thursday, June 2 to accommodate the festive activities.
And the weekend will be extended by 1 day off Friday, June 3.
Buckingham Palace said the extra-long weekend would provide “an opportunity for communities across the UK to come together and celebrate the historic milestone”.
It added in a statement: “The four days of celebration will include public events and community activism, as well as national moments that reflect the Queen’s 70 years of service.
In addition, initiatives including The Queen’s Green Canopy and Platinum Pudding will create a lasting reminder of The Queen’s Jubilee, while The Queen’s private properties will also participate in the events. Jubilee-themed specials, providing more opportunities for members of the public to celebrate the historic milestone.”
The platinum pudding competition will see Britons scrambling to create the right pudding for the queen, with anyone aged eight and up being allowed to register.
The five finalists will then prepare their pudding for a panel of expert judges including Dame Mary Berry, Monica Galetti and Buckingham Palace Chef Mark Flanagan.
The winning recipe will be announced to the public – and the pudding will be enjoyed at the Great Lunch and “for generations to come”.
Meanwhile, the Queen’s Green Canopy will see thousands of trees planted in honor of the Queen, including “commemorative trees”, “new majestic avenues of trees”, “urban tree planting”. ” and “newly expanded forests will benefit future generations”.

THURSDAY, JUNE 2
The long weekend will start with a bang when the Queen’s Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour) is held.

On Friday, Thanksgiving for the Queen’s reign will be held at St Paul’s Cathedral.

SATURDAY JUNE 4
On Saturday, the BBC will host a ‘Platinum Party at the Palace’ – a live concert bringing together some of the world’s biggest entertainers to celebrate some of the most important moments from the era. reign of the Queen.

SUNDAY JUNE 5
The Great Lunch will be held across the country on June 5, with more than 1,400 people signed up to host their own big lunch so far.
Other celebrations include the Platinum Jubilee Festival, where performers, dancers, musicians, military personnel, key workers and volunteers will unite to tell the story of the 70-year reign of Queen in a creative festival.
The London-based Pageant competition is said to combine “gorgeous and ceremonial, street art, theatre, music, circus, costumes as well as cutting-edge visual technology”.
A section of ‘River of Hope’ will also see two hundred silk flags pull down the Mall, appearing like a moving river.
