The Peak at Disneyland’s Best Christmas Party, Merchandise & Night

The holidays are in full swing at Disney theme parks across the globe, and I might personally be biased, but none does it better than the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. Between now and January 9, 2022, both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure have been transformed into a fun and magical venue with lots of holiday cheer everywhere you go, it’s even overflowing. into Downtown Disney and the Disneyland Resort Hotel.

Since this is the latest product for the holiday season, I wanted to give special attention to Disney Merriest Nites’ after-hours holiday party at Disneyland, hosted by Mickey Mouse and his friends, and takes place on select nights from 8pm to midnight (entry allowed three hours before event start). With six themed parties in one giant celebration, there’s a lot to cram in in a limited amount of time, so you need to make sure you plan wisely, but if you do, you can solve a small part of everything.

As crowds continue to grow again, closer to pre-pandemic levels, after-hours parties are always good for shorter lines, or even non-existent for rides (although Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge doesn’t open during the event and somehow Peter Pan’s Flight still has a longer timeout), but for me the character interactions are a real hit. On Main Street, USA, you can get a picture of yourself with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in Carol’s Christmas costume or Scrooge McDuck and Goofy as the ghosts of Jacob Marley, while Princess Tiana in New Orleans Square, Miguel from Coco in Frontierland, Lilo & Stitch in Adventureland, and characters from frozen was in Fantasyland. And if you want to join, Buzz Lightyear is hosting a dance party in Tomorrowland.

There are food and drink specials around Disneyland just for this event, so you can enjoy a chocolate sip with waffle dip at Jolly Holiday Bakery Café, a coffee nog at Red Rose Taverne or a burgers left over during Thanksgiving at the Galactic Grill, before watching the “A Christmas Fantasy,” Handbell Carolers, or Mariachis parade on the balcony of the Golden Horseshoe. And while I enjoyed everything I experienced at the event, the best part was The Muppets Christmas Caroling Coach, home to Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie the Bear, Gonzo the Great, Pepe the Prawn and Sam Eagle, with four performances a night (including some chicken backing vocals). I had the most enjoyable time singing with The Muppets for a show that was so pure and fun. Sadly, if you don’t already have tickets to Merriest Nites, you won’t be able to buy them as the event is sold out, but the event looks like a test run (they only give a total of five days of sale. ) more than once, so you’ll likely see it again in the future.

With this being the first holiday since before Disneyland Resort closed due to the COVID pandemic, it all feels a little more magical and there is still plenty to do and experience at both Disneyland and Disney California. Adventure during normal operating hours. The iconic 60-foot-tall Main Street Christmas tree decorated with nearly 1,800 ornaments is a welcome sight and snow and sparkles are added to Sleeping Beauty’s Castle in the winter. makes me a little blind. And to add to the festivities, you can also watch the “A Christmas Fantasy” parade, the “Believe in Holiday Magic” fireworks, snowfall and colorful spectacles over the buildings of Main Street, and more. character in their best winter break, in between trips on the Haunted Mansion Vacation and Small World Vacation (right after it reopened after the recent flood). The characters meet and greets are still socially distanced for safety, but the interactions are truly top notch.

And at DCA, the Holiday Festival lets guests experience the sights, sounds and flavors of Christmas / Navidad, Diwali, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Three Kings Day, with live entertainment, merchandise themed and eight food markets with a wide variety of food and drink options. While there’s enough selection that everyone can find something that appeals to them, my personal recommendation is to be sure to try the hot cocoa marshmallow macaron at the Making Spirits Bright stall, as it’s the kind of dessert that we don’t care about. everyone dreams. make of.

You can keep the street party going with ¡Viva Navidad!, featuring Mexican folk dancers and mariachis, Brazilian samba dancers and percussionists, giant puppets, and Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in their best show. There’s also a daily dance with Mickey and Minnie and various characters, Santa greets guests at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, and Mirabel’s intro from Encanto to the park. The festive fun continues in Cars Land with detailed holiday decorations everywhere you look and overlaying Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl and Mater’s Jingle Jamboree.

We’re sorry, as we’re still in the midst of a pandemic, capacity is more limited than before, so if you haven’t booked for December, the current month is sold out. Unless that changes and the dates unfold, you’ll have to plan for January 2022, before the decorations degrade again until next holiday season. And look forward to the Lunar New Year, the traditional celebration of Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese cultures, held from January 21 to February 13, and the Food and Wine Festival, which will take place. from March 4 to April 26, both at DCA.
