The Next Generation wardrobe test shots are hilarious

Star Trek: The Next Generation really started in the 1980s.

Gosh. That’s all I have to say after I see these Star Trek: The Next Generation Wardrobe demos include Wil Wheaton, LeVar Burton and Marina Sirtis. Of course, Star Trek fans might know them better as Wesley Crusher, Geordi La Forge, and Deanna Troi, three of the more famous characters from Resurrection of Star Trek series of the 1980s.

And the 1980s certainly were, especially with Burton’s hair and Wheaton’s pants. To say that, and that Sirtis’ hair was a product of their time would be an understatement. Perhaps nothing is as bad as the sweater Wheaton is wearing in the photo.

There is also what appears to be a Deep Space Nine photo test by Terry Farrell, with a first look at what a Trill would look like. That was apparently changed by the time the series began.

The appearance made sense at the time, as another species, the Kriosians, had an appearance similar to what the Trill would eventually have.

Always great to see what Star Trek looks like

It’s great to see what the world of Star Trek can look like with different decisions. We know that Star Trek’s Deep Space Nine and Voyagers have slightly different casts, with DS9 featuring Ro Laren instead of Kira Nerys, and Voyager having a completely different Captain Kathryn Janeway.

Since Star Trek is almost 60 years old, it’s not surprising that there are so many different looks or different casting ideas. In fact, Trek is probably more than anything, considering how many shows and movies they have. We may not even know about all of them yet, which is the best part.

Learn about what may have fueled the fandom. It puts things in perspective and makes you realize that things could have been much worse. To be fair, there may be some occasions when you hear a slightly different casting or design choice and you might be wondering “what if, man?”, such as when Laren replaced Nerys .

We love Major, but most people will probably want to see an alternate timeline version of DS9 where it’s Laren, not Nerys. Not because it would have been better, but it could have been a lot different.

That’s what these behind-the-scenes photos help to provide, consider what maybe have done.
