“The Hunger Games” became an instant hit at the box office in 2012 and presented itself as the next successor to the blockbuster throne once held by the Harry Potter series. After a series of sequels, the series rested in our cinemas for quite a while. But now we’re finally back to fight for our districts with a prequel subtitled The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes. Set 64 years before the events of the original, this time we have an all-new cast, ranging from high-profile newcomers to rising stars to complete newbies.

Who plays Maude Ivory in The Hunger Games?

Maude Ivory Baird in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Serpents is played by Vaughan Reilly.

The 15-year-old American actress is a newcomer to the film series, but is already establishing herself as both a star and a singer.

In 2021, she began singing the voice of the character Doka in the animated series Tunes Of Rockoons. The following year, she played young Nora in the acclaimed show Russian Doll, her live-action debut.

She has since also voiced Nadiya in Teenage Euthanasia, a 2023 series, which then leads us to Maude, her fourth role, now in theaters.

Dr. Gaul will be portrayed by Viola Davis in the 2023 Hunger Games prequel.

While most will not be familiar with Vaughan until they have seen “Singbirds and Snakes,” there will be many viewers who want to see the film and are already big fans of “Viola.”

The 58-year-old American actress won an Oscar in 2016 for her portrayal of Rose Maxson in “Fences,” an adaptation of a play starring Denzel Washington. In total she was nominated four times and won once. Katniss actress Jennifer Lawrence from The Hunger Games is also an Oscar winner.

Viola’s other film roles include The Help (she played Aibileen Clark), The Woman King (Nansica), Suicide Squad (Amanda Waller), Air (Deloris Jordan), Widows (Veronica) and “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” (Ma Rainey).

On television, you may have seen her talents in The First Lady (Michelle Obama) and How To Get Away With Murder (Annalise Keating).

Franchise fans will be thrilled to see her in the series as the main playmaker of the 10th Hunger Games.

“The makeup in Hunger Games took four hours,” she said explained during an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “And then it took maybe 45 minutes to take it off.”

Last but not least, Dimitri Abold plays the Reaper in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.

The 28-year-old Jamaican-born German actor is perhaps best known for his role as Ben in the Amazon Prime Video series Love Addicts, having previously appeared in a number of German television productions such as The Office and The Boss .

However, he could also have been seen as Randall in the Netflix series Warrior Nun.

“The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” is in theaters now.
