The Neighborhood parted ways with drummer Brandon Fried over wanton allegations

Rock band The Neighborhood have severed ties with their drummer after “groping” allegations against him were shared on Instagram.

On Sunday evening (November 13), The Marías frontwoman Maria Zardoya posted an Instagram Story on her band’s page in which she accused the band’s drummer, Brandon Fried.

“I was in a bar last night and got groped under the table by Brandon Fried, drummer for The Neighborhood. It was one of the most uncomfortable things I’ve ever experienced. I felt an invasion of my space, privacy and body,” Zardoya wrote of the story, before asking the band to hire a new drummer.

“@thenbhd you need a new drummer, this guy is a complete creep,” she said.

Shortly after her post, The Neighborhood posted a story on their Instagram page saying Fried would no longer be part of the band.

“We are grateful to Maria for reaching out. We have zero tolerance for inappropriate behavior towards women,” the post said.

“As a result of Brandon’s actions, he will no longer be a member of The Neighborhood,” they wrote.

Fried then responded on his personal Instagram post: “I am so terribly sorry for Maria. My actions were inexcusable and intolerable.

“They don’t reflect who I am as a person, they clearly reflect who I’m becoming while under the influence.”

He added, “It is evident that I need to address my alcohol and substance abuse issues, for which I am now seeking help.”

“I want to apologize to women who have been victims of behavior that has made them feel uncomfortable or hurt. I’m so sorry for The Neighborhood and our fans for letting them down,” Fried added on the Instagram story.

The Independent has reached out to representatives from The Neighborhood and The Marias for comment.

The Neighborhood recently made headlines after it was revealed that pop star Billie Eilish was dating the band’s frontman Jesse Rutherford.
