It’s time to travel to 1313 Mockingbird Lane again.
A teaser trailer for Rob Zombie’s highly anticipated film remake of the popular 1960s sitcom The Munsters was released on Wednesday.
The clip, shared by Zombie on social media, stars Jeff Daniel Phillips (Westworld, Claws) as Herman Munster, who breaks down the door, Sheri Zombie – director Rob Zombie’s wife – as Lily Munster and Daniel Roebuck as Grandpa Munster.
Zombie announced in June 2021 that he would be directing a remake, which he says was a dream he’d been chasing for nearly 20 years.
“Warning boils and ghouls! The rumors are true! My next film project will be the one I’ve been chasing for 20 years! THE MUNSTERS! Stay tuned for exciting details as things unfold,” Zombie wrote on his Instagram account last summer.
In the months following the announcement, Zombie posted several behind-the-scenes photos to his account.
This adaptation will be quite different from Zombie’s previous films. In a twist, the film is rated PG.
“For those of you speculating, wondering and assuming that ‘The Munsters’ would be filthy, violent and evil… well you’re wrong,” Zombie has since written.
“It’s all right down in Mockingbird Lane.”
Zombie has said in the past that he’s a super fan of the Munsters, even naming his song Dragula after the Munsters’ own vehicle.
The original sitcom, which first aired in 1964 and ran through 1966, blended classic Hollywood monsters with suburban life and managed to beat the similarly themed The Addams Family in the ratings until it was taken over by the classic series Adam West was dethroned. Batman.”
The film will be released in theaters later this year and will be streamed on Peacock.
