The moment the van driver crashed into a police car before being discovered hiding in only his underwear

THIS is the terrifying moment a drugged van driver crashed a police car six times before he was caught in a back garden wearing only his underwear.

Paul Neelan, 29, repeatedly rammed a feeder truck into a police van after officers were called to reports of a fight in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

Shocking footage shows the thug smashing into a vehicle, leaving two Hancock Green officers in Coventry with neck and back injuries.

The force said they were called to reports of serious disorder and a vehicle deliberately ramming people around 1:45 a.m. on January 1.

Officers spotted the truck being recklessly driven and climbed onto the sidewalk before it plowed into officers.

He could then be seen trying to drive away but was soon hit by a collision as he was unable to negotiate a detour.

They were hit six times with the impact exploding the car’s airbag and ripping off a door, before Neelan crashed into another police car.

Neelan is pursued by specially equipped officers and he is found hiding in a nearby garden wearing only a pair of shorts.

West Midlands Police have released images of their wrecked Vauxhall Insignia after Neelan caused £15,000 worth of damage.

He was found guilty on two counts of attempted bodily harm last Thursday and will be sentenced at Leamington Crown Court on March 4.

Detective Constable Bally Kaur said: “This was a horrific attack against two officers who were heading to the scene of the disturbance to protect members of the public.

“One of the officers had to be put on the spine but fortunately they were not seriously injured.

“Neelan could have easily injured more people and caused a serious crash when he was speeding drugs.

“Anyone who assaults an emergency services worker pays a heavy price and spends time behind bars.”

It is believed that he was addicted to drugs when the incident happened
