The “Magic” thief from Seguin, Texas, secretly pocketed change returned to him by the teller and claimed he fell short stealing $2,700

SEGUIN, Texas (KTRK) – Police are searching for a man accused of using “magic” to steal money from cashiers at two Walmarts in Seguin, Texas.

The man reportedly used a technique called “quick swap”. It’s a technique where you covertly pocket some of the change returned by the cashier, claiming you underchanged.

Lawmakers say the magic thief managed to steal a total of $2,700.

“Penn and Teller, look out. Seguin has his very own wizard on the rise,” joked Sequin Police in a Facebook post.

Police went on to say in a Facebook post:

“It looks like our Walmart wizard isn’t keeping its performance local. Our contribution attracted national attention. Due to the volume of shares and media coverage, law enforcement agencies in Georgia, Tennessee, Rhode Island, South Carolina and Virginia have approached the SPD regarding similar cases involving our newly famous wizard.”

If you recognize the man, please contact police at 830-379-2123.
