What is the release date and time of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power?
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will debut on September 1, 2022 at 9:00 p.m. ET with a double episode drop on Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service. For the week after and beyond, new episodes will arrive at 12 p.m. ET until the season 1 finale. Season 1 will consist of eight episodes, with Amazon Studios previously confirming that they hope the series will run for at least five seasons. Filming for season 2 is scheduled to begin in October 2022 and will take place in the UK after production for season 1 took place in New Zealand and mirroring the original film trilogy.
Not much is known about the specific stories told in The Rings of Power, but we do know that some well-known characters such as Galadriel and Elrond will appear, albeit with different actors taking on the roles. Characters new to the screen adaptation are also introduced for the first time.
