“The Lincoln Lawyer” will be without a key cast member in Season 3

On August 30, almost four weeks after the end of the second season, it was announced that Netflix had renewed “The Lincoln Lawyer” for a third season.

Additionally, Netflix also revealed that the third season of The Lincoln Lawyer will cover the events of The Gods Guilt, the fifth book in Michael Connelly’s literary series.

Speaking about the renewal, co-showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez said: “The audience response to the show has been so gratifying and wonderful, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to delve back into Michael Connelly’s universe and bring along Mickey Haller and… his world back on the screen.”

Neve Campbell is leaving The Lincoln Lawyer

While Mickey Haller and most of the cast of The Lincoln Lawyer will be returning for season three, one key cast member will not be returning.

The actress is Neve Campbell, a veteran of House of Cards and the Scream film series, who plays Mickey’s first wife, Maggie McPherson.

While the character was a regular in Season 1, her role was significantly reduced in Season 2 and she is not expected to appear at all in Season 3 The Hollywood Reporter.

The main reason for Neve Campbell’s departure is the fact that her character does not appear in the book “The Guilt of the Gods” and therefore it makes little sense for her to appear.

To that end, the showrunners have been preparing for this, as Maggie took a new job in a different city in the season 2 finale, which will largely explain her absence.

While Neve Campbell may be missing from season three, The Hollywood Reporter hinted that she may not be gone forever.

According to the publication’s sources, the door remains open for Neve Campbell to return in future seasons if the writers feel the need for Maggie to return to Los Angeles.
