The journalist says Tottenham could now land a CL-winning manager who is said to be ‘better’ than Pochettino

Tottenham Hotspur could be looking for a new manager soon.

The feeling is that Antonio Conte’s position at Spurs is untenable following his post-game interview on Saturday.

He called a number of his stars “selfish” and claimed they were afraid to play under pressure.

Conte also appeared to criticize the club’s ownership as he questioned its success under the current regime.

Many managers have been linked with the Tottenham reins if Conte leaves.

Thomas Tuchel is a name making the rounds lately.

And according to ESPN journalist James Olley, there’s a real “possibility” he could replace Conte at Tottenham.

“I heard Thomas Tuchel is a possibility,” he told ESPN.

“Thomas Tuchel, I remember him giving a press conference when he was Chelsea manager and talking about how he was a Tottenham fan growing up. He loved the Premier League.

“I think he would take that job if it were offered to him. I suppose you can think of other things, Conte’s 3-4-3 system, to some extent they built a squad around it.

“Tuchel likes to play with three at the back, so it somehow fits together logically. He is well acquainted with the media.

“I could envision Tuchel working for them, he’s a big enough name and Champions League pedigree that Spurs would feel like they were getting a top manager.”

“Should be No. 1 on everyone’s agenda”

Tuchel is a good reputation for Tottenham.

He got his start at Chelsea and led them months after moving to the Champions League.

Tuchel has won a total of 12 trophies in his career as well as the World’s Best Club Coach award in 2021.

And his style of play and childlike appreciation of Spurs could also serve him well at N17.

Two football figures claim that Tuchel is a better coach than Mauricio Pochettino.

One of them is Darren Bent, who debated talkSPORT with Sam Ellard in 2021.

“Pochettino failed to win the French league at PSG with Mbappe, Neymar, Verratti, Icardi and Di Maria,” he said.

“Pochettino has the best players in France… that’s more than enough time to win the French league.

“Tuchel comes to Chelsea who is ninth and wins the Champions League but you still say Pochettino is better than him?”

The Daily Mail’s Martin Samuel suggested this in the Daily Mail last year while discussing Manchester United.

“It’s not a discussion about Mauricio Pochettino that was supposed to be at Old Trafford this morning,” he wrote.

“Thomas Tuchel. This name should be at the top of everyone’s agenda.

“The best manager on the market right now is Tuchel – even if Paris Saint-Germain is done with Pochettino.”
