The indictment of Trump in Georgia may bring justice, but not cure

It is now four Criminal proceedings against former President Donald Trump are ongoing, and this one is likely to be the most serious.

Her blackmail case centered on Trump’s elaborate, clumsy attempt to overturn the 2020 election results in her state of Fulton County, Georgia. District Attorney Fani Willis is targeting alleged felonies related to efforts to build a rival slate of state voters, attempts to violate voting rights machines in rural Coffee County, and Trump’s infamous Jan. 2, 2021 phone call attempting to use Georgia’s Secretary of State to urge “finding” enough votes to reverse the Peach State’s results.

Trump is also in front of you federal case over his efforts to overthrow the election and another over the safekeeping of confidential documents, as well as the dubious allegations by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg over Stormy Daniels’ hush money.

All that it lands while he is campaigning for a return to the White House, fueling a feeling among his supporters that the justice system has been weaponized against him (an impression reinforced by the blatant cover-up of the Hunter-Biden investigation). becomes).

And none that there is any hope of healing the country or even moving on.

Most of America is desperate to break away from Trump — and Biden, too.

Next year’s presidential election poses a serious threat of renewed litigation, both political and literal in many courtrooms.

America, the world’s greatest democracy, deserves better. But fate has decided to try the nation’s patience.
