The French bulldog named Winston is leading the 2022 national dog show

A French bulldog with “Razzle Dazzle” ran away with the title of “Best in Show” at the 21st Annual National Dog Show.

Winston, the French Bulldog part-owned by Morgan Fox, defensive end of the NFL Los Angeles Chargers, beat hundreds of other dogs to take the coveted top dog title.

An estimated 20 million people tuned in to NBC for the Thanksgiving Day contest, hosted by the Kennel Club of Philadelphia.

Winston and his handler and co-owner Perry Payson, of Bixby, Oklahoma, drew cheers from the crowd as Payson excitedly lifted and twirled the three-year-old cream French bulldog during the celebration at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center.

“He is a show dog with personality and beauty and is a perfect match for the breed,” Vicki Seiler-Cushman, judge Best in Show, said in a statement. “He has a racy glow that says, ‘I’m here to win tonight.’ You realize he can also go home and be the perfect pet.”

French Bulldogs are the second most popular breed in the United States, after Labrador Retrievers, according to the American Kennel Club.

The Thanksgiving contest marked Winston’s 78th Best in Show title and made the pooch the No. 1 ranked all breed in the United States

“The National Dog Show in Philadelphia with the television coverage on Thanksgiving Day is obviously special,” Payson said. “We had a lot of support and that’s what happens with a dog of this quality.”

Winston – whose registered show is called I Won The War at Goldshield by GCHP Fox Canyon – was too busy eating treats to comment on his big win.
