The former Tottenham star makes a bold prediction about James Maddison after De Bruyne’s injury

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Danny Murphy is counting on James Maddison, who will have the most assists in the Premier League this season.
James Maddison joined Tottenham from Leicester City earlier this summer and has already assisted two goals in the new season.
Murphy, who has been reminded that Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne will be out for the next few months, was asked on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel to predict who will have the most assists in the Premier League this season becomes FIVE.
“Maddison, I’m staying with him just because he can do all set pieces and Tottenham will win games and score goals,” said the former England international.
Last season De Bruyne provided 16 assists in the English top flight and was named playmaker of the season for the third time.
James Maddison wins Playmaker of the Season award
With De Bruyne out injured, Maddison has a good shot at the award.
In the 2022/23 Premier League season, the attacking midfielder recorded nine assists for a Leicester side that were later relegated.

Now that he’s on a better team, it’s not impossible that he could top that number. And as Murphy mentioned, he relies on set pieces at Tottenham which will help in his quest for Playmaker of the Season honors.
However, Maddison’s main focus this season will obviously be helping Spurs get back into the Top 4 and into the Champions League.
However, with many top-flight teams at the top of the Premier League at the moment, it will be a difficult task for Ange Postecoglou’s men.
Be that as it may, Maddison is already proving to be a wise addition to Tottenham’s squad after his performance in the 2-2 draw against Brentford.
