He claims he graduated from Sandhurst academy and is in the Royal Military Police’s Special Investigations Branch.

And he dressed up as an Honorary Colonel for Memorial Sunday.

But veterans called him Walter Mitty after an investigation revealed he was not in the Falklands and without a bravery medal.

There is no mention of him in the official London Gazette records. The photos also show his medals misplaced.

The Royal Military Police Association said it was unable to substantiate his claims.

He said online that he assumed the post of Honorary Lieutenant Colonel in 2019 when he became Mayor of Otley in West Yorkshire.

The Walter Mitty Hunters Club, which exposes military forgers, said: “He’s not a difficult subject to investigate.

“He chose a unit and medal that was easy to check through the London Gazette.”

Currently on vacation in Jamaica, he’s retired as Lib Dem and councilor.

He was listed as a bailiff and told The Sun the incident took a toll on his livelihood. He added: “No matter what I say or prove the damage has been done is irreversible.”
