PHILADELPHIA, PA. – Former Philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter, a Democrat, issued a rebuke to Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner, accusing Krasner of his positions on the crimes Nutter alleges led to The number of murders increased to a record.
“As of Monday night, 521 people, souls, souls have been destroyed, discarded, murdered in our City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Love, the most since 1960, Nutter, who served as Mayor of Philadelphia from 2008 to 2016 Written Tuesday on The Philadelphia Inquirer. “I have to wonder what chaotic world Krasner lives in of a white awakening that has little regard for the human lives lost, many of them Black and brown, while he raises his national profile as a district attorney.”
Nutter responded comment was given by Krasner at a press conference in which he stated “we don’t have a lawlessness crisis, we don’t have a crime crisis, we don’t have a violence crisis. “
Krasner, whose campaign received a large sum of money from a leftist billionaire George Soros, often chooses not to prosecute low-level criminals, The New York Times report. These crimes will not be prosecuted including prostitution and drugs, Fox 45 report.
Nutter argues that these policies are leading to an increase in violent crime.
“Krasner should also use her words to send a message to this city’s shooters, murderers, and criminals by pledging to actually prosecute them, rather than trick them, make excuses, reduce or reduce them. guilty,” Nutter wrote. “He should commit to locking them up for carrying illegal weapons or shooting people.”
Philadelphia is having a record crime rate, with 523 homicides so far in 2021 through December 8, according to data from the Philadelphia Police Department. That’s a 13% increase year-to-date from 2020 and nearly double the total year-end homicides in 2016, before Krasner took office.
“I want to ask Krasner: How many black and brown people, and others, would have to be shot down in our streets every day to meet your definition of ‘crisis’? ‘” Nutter writes. “How many more children and young people have to die in record numbers to get your attention and be seen as a ‘crisis’?'”
Since Nutter wrote the op-ed, two other murders have occurred. Nutter called on Krasner to resign over his policies.
Nutter writes: “If Krasner doesn’t have the guts or guts to carry out those duties, he should resign and hand everything over to someone who isn’t trying to sell Philadelphians.
