The ex-soldier was forced to move his entire clifftop house in SECONDS time as shocking photos show the ground collapsing beneath the property

The AN veteran is being forced to move his entire clifftop home for a second time when shocking photos show the ground collapsing beneath his property.

When Lance Martin bought his dream home in Hemsby, Norfolk, less than five years ago, surveyors told him he wouldn’t have to worry about coastal erosion in 30 years.

But the 2018 superstorms, Monsters from the East and Hurricane Darcy eroded the soil so much that Lance’s garden collapsed onto the beach below, according to reports. Mirror.

Living along Hembsby’s coastline has become so dangerous that neighbors have to evacuate – with Lance being the only person left still living in the area.

His house now sits just 10 meters from the cliff edge and that is after he spent tens of thousands of pounds lifting his house 10 meters inland in May 2018 with an industrial winch.

The 64-year-old former coach estimates he spent £100,000 building his home – dubbed “Dune Fall” – more than the £95,000 he paid for it in 2017.

And in two years’ time, he’ll have to move his entire 60-ton house all over again – but Lance has no regrets.

“I’ll do it all over again when I drop the hat,” he told the Mirror.

“I’ve had four great years living around here, and it could go on. You just have to have a sense of humor about it.”

When one’s father moved from London, he was one of 13 houses near the top of the cliff.

Currently, 11 houses have been demolished while the remaining one was abandoned in 2018.

“Erosion rate was supposed to be about a meter a year, which means I had 30 to 40 years, but then the Beast from the East threw me about 30 to 40 meters behind me,” said former Granadier Guards. said .

Lance teamed up with volunteers to protect his home by placing large rocks on the beach below using the JCB but had to redo it all after recent storms hit the coast. .

He said: “It’s disturbing, I’m actually a bit stressed about it. What I tend to do is I have a movable headlight, I leave it on so I can see the defence. themselves and check if they are ok”.

“Once I’m sure that nothing too serious will happen, I go to bed, I sleep very well, trust me.

“I’ve done everything in my power to minimize any damage, so if it’s not enough it’s my fault.”

Lance had hoped the vital £9m coastal defense job could prevent him from having to move house again but has now resigned to do so.

The mammoth move will be accomplished by towing the building using an RSJ net or a giant crane – all worth up to £10,000.

He estimates he will then be 60 meters from the edge of the cliff.

“If you watch some of these shows from Alaska and Canada, they move buildings bigger than mine every day,” he said.

“Where there is a will, there is a way.”
