The Complete Version Brings Don Davis’ Score to Vinyl
Varèse Sarabande is releasing Matrix: Complete Version on vinyl in 2022. Vinyl will contain 3 LPs which include the full soundtrack of the original 1999 film, Matrix. A total of 44 songs have been remade, as well as an exclusive interview with the composer university lecturer Davis.
Vinyl is wrapped in a gorgeous triple coat that drips with the iconic neon green of Matrix opens to reveal the phone booth from the film’s opening sequence, as well as the watchlist outside. The inside of the sleeve contains an image from Matrix and an interview with Davis, titled “Making The Matrix.” Davis also scored the first two sequel films, Reload Matrix and Matrix Revolution as well as the Wachowski sisters’ first feature film, Constraint.
Matrix was one of the most impactful films of the last 25 years, and in 1999 it revolutionized the film industry. The original film tells the story of a small group of believers in a chaotic world overrun by an evil race of AI, who want to keep humanity in the “matrix” so they can use their lives. us as a natural resource. The original cyberpunk masterpiece spawned two sequels, and now Lana Wachowski – co-director of the original trilogy with her older sister Lilly Wachowski – brought to life a fourth movie, which is slated to be released just before Christmas. Matrix Recovery will yield Neo (Keanu Reeves) and Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) in a whole new adventure.
Matrix: Complete Version vinyl is available for pre-order now and will be released on June 3, 2022. The soundtrack is also available on CD and SACD exclusively at Varèse Sarabande’s online store. Matrix Recovery, written and directed by Lana Wachowski, will hit theaters on December 22, 2021 and stars Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Christina Ricci, and Jessica Henwick. New movies will be graded by Johnny Klimek and Tom Tykwer, who worked with Wachowski’s on Sense8 and Cloud Atlas.
